Jason Sturgeon was born and raised in Petersburg, Indiana. He grew up in a family of coal miners who farmed corn beans, riding four wheelers around the corn mine. In 1996 he was 8th in the world for competitive horse riding.
Since then he has had the honor of playing with Dierks Bently, and Travis Tritt who he has always loved. Despite his background he grew up loving the greats; he wanted to be Kenny Rodgers. From a very young age he would bust out the Kenny Rodgers to his family, who would reward him with quarters.
