McDonald’s Latest Happy Meal Is a Virtual-Reality Headset

14 stores in the Sweden will offer Happy Meals that morph into a virtual-reality headset called “Happy Goggles.” The chain says just 3,500 pairs of the goggles will be released.  With a few flips and folds, kids can transform the box into a smartphone holder, which provides a kinda-sorta VR experience similar to Google Cardboard.  Goggles come with a VR ski game that’s endorsed by Sweden’s national ski team.
Kids just slide a smartphone behind the lens for the full 3-D effect. From McDonald’s official Happy Goggles website: “It’s our mission to ensure that the world’s most famous box will continue to be magical and relevant to families for another 30 years. The Happy Meal simply must move with the times.”
There may be a chance for Happy Goggles to pop up in other markets if the promotion is successful.
